11/19/2023 0 Comments Resolutioners gym![]() I want you to be healthy and happy, while feeling good about yourself and feeling welcome in my fitness community. ![]() That could be change in your fitness plan or that you have outgrown your current gym or program.Īs a personal trainer my job is to make sure you are getting the best and safest workout you can while you are in my gym. Evaluate what is working and what is not, if you find that you are burned out for several reasons then it may be time to look to change it up. Change is fine if it is going to help you get to the next level. You may find that your current routine really is not working for you anymore and that is ok. Step back from what you are doing and where you are doing it at. If you are in a rut in your current routine or at your current gym, you could be having a case of fitness burnout. If money is a motivating factor there are challenges out there that money in could be money in your pocket if you win. You can find many that are free or very inexpensive. ![]() There is always a challenge out there for just about anything you could be looking for. If you do not have a gym membership or a challenge is not currently going on with the one you are a member of then look online or at social media. There are challenges every day of every month out there, for any health or fitness goal. One suggestion would be to join a challenge or contest. ![]() If I am speaking to you, this is the time to get back into the swing of it. How many of you out there reading this blog have already come to abandon these health and fitness goals? Or maybe you have not completely abandoned them in your mind but the thought of being judged at the gym for being one of those “New Year’s resolutioners” has stopped you from already going in. It could be to lose weight, run a marathon, get to the gym 3-4 days a week, etc. Many of us make New Year’s resolutions with goals in mind that are wrapped around our health and fitness. By Spring, some rooftop happy hour or garden brunch will be the first of many reasons they claim they cannot workout that day, and I’ll have my gym back for the rest of the year. It’s that time of year for New Year’s resolutions, the time we vow to ourselves that this year will be different, that we will be different and stick to the plan we make for ourselves at the beginning of every year. All of these resolutioners need to stop wasting their money or time signing up for trial periods. And let’s be honest, your fantasy of sparking up a conversation even when the cutie’s call ends is not likely since he will seamless switch from talking to texting with his head down so you won’t even be able to enjoy the view from the mirror in front of you for too long. The content of the discussion you overhear further confirms your wise choice not to engage the gym-goer and just enjoy the reflection of the eye candy in the mirror as you run a quarter marathon. He is so engulfed in his phone conversation…loudly talking…using the speaker…that any attraction that caught your attention dissolves as quickly as your futile attempt to add ice cubes to your plastic water bottle. The third person that shows up almost gives you hope for humanity, but you then notice that they are only at the gym to sit on machines and weight benches. She didn’t listen to the suggestion of using a key lock and so spends most of her time helpless and muttering curses seemingly to herself, however loud just enough to garner an audience that attempts to come to her rescue. The second person is The Silly Woman or damsel in distress. And I’m not against PDA–it’s disgusting, unnecessary, and unproductive (especially since your hands should be gripping the arms of an elliptical or twenty pound free weights). They’re the two holding hands as they parade around the gym. You’ll know them because at least two items they’re wearing match whether it’s their baseball caps, tee shirts, sneakers, color scheme, something will definitely be the same. First type of person at the gym comes as a pair: the couple. So the downside to a new year: the resolutioners are at the gym again for their annual two months of “it’s going to be different this year” weight loss plan. ![]()
